Event etiquette
For everyone
- Show up if you join. Joining is a promise. If plans change, leave the activity or say so in the chat as early as you can.
- Be on time, or message the group if you're running late.
- Include people. Say hi to newcomers, switch to a language everyone speaks, and make space in the conversation.
- Split costs fairly. Settle up on the spot or agree how before you order. Nobody should be left with the bill.
- Respect local customs, including tipping, dress, noise and alcohol norms.
- Ask before taking or posting photos of other people.
- Keep the group chat useful: plans, updates and a friendly hello. Take long side conversations to direct messages.
- It's a meetup, not a date. If you'd like to see someone again, ask once and take no for an answer.
For hosts
- Be specific: a clear title, the exact meeting point, and anything people should bring or know (costs, fitness level, language).
- Pick a size you can handle and a place that suits it.
- Keep details up to date in the app. Changes post in the chat and notify everyone who joined.
- Welcome people when they arrive and introduce them to the group.
- Cancel early if you can't make it, by deleting the activity so nobody travels for nothing.
- For private activities, answer join requests reasonably quickly.
For guests
- Read the details before you join, and respect the age range and group size.
- Say hi in the chat so the host knows you're coming.
- Bring your own positivity (and cash if the venue needs it).
- Thank the host. Hosting takes effort.
